Price of the general score - This piece, composed for an orchestra of young students, maintains a direct harmonic inspiration from French music, of which I am a great admirer. Faure, Franck, Debussy, Ravel and Duparc, among others. The chords with added notes, the modal passages, the chromatic harmonic links and the enharmonics are constant characteristics of this piece. Its structure follows an A-B-A'-C-B-A'-Coda form and is therefore similar to a rondo, with a mirror-like structure. The initial part A, which is presented three times throughout the piece in varied forms, is of a calmer and mysterious character evoking the nocturn ambience that gives name to the piece. The part B, of a bucolic and pastoral flaire, appears twice, and is written to imitate a sort of rhythmic plucking in 6. 8, very typical of the Sicilian dance. The part C is the most melodic and sentimental.
