This piece is taken from a collection of 35 choral concertos for four voices. Tchaikovsky himself thought this concerto to be the finest of the collection. This piece would make a splendid introduction to the Russian sacred repertory as the vocal ranges are moderate and the classical style is familiar to many choirs.
